Screw this place! I use to go here back in the day when it was a "dive bar". And when it was a blast! Now, ha!! I keep my tab in my head and when I need a reminder I ask what it is. The other night I asked what my tab was at. I was handed a receipt saying $56.50. Perfect. I had two more beers then asked for my tab because my ride was leaving. Got a tab of $101.00. After a little argument, because I know two beers don't cost $20.00, I gave up. I don't know what happened to this place but it is a god damn shit hole now. Yeah it looks nice. That's so you can go inside and get scanned. Another reason I don't go to castle rock!

Been here before but tried something different this time. Good atmosphere and pork green chile! Service was great, especially Terri (our server) but the salads were overdressed and spinach artichoke dip was oily.

I can't speak to the food because we didn't stay long enough to even look at menus...this place is nicknamed "The Dirty" for a very good reason! Apparently, this is one of the few places one can still smoke. I don't smoke so I could smell the stale, funk immediately upon entering. We walked in to an open room. We didn't know if we were supposed to be seated or just grab any seat. After a few minutes of watching us look around confused, the bartender finally asked if we needed help. "Do we just seat ourselves?"; she said yes. We sat down for about five minutes at a table, without receiving a menu (it isn't like it was crowded at all...just a few (I assume because of the familiarity with the bartender) regulars at the bar. I set my arm on the table and stuck to it slightly. There was basically a haze over everything. It looked like someone had actually wiped down the table, but the cloth they used must have been greasy and dirty. Gross! "Can we just leave?" "Yes, let's go." I have been to and really enjoy dive bars, but I like places where I eat and drink to be clean...this place wasn't. Sorry.

I have to say once they went non-smoking I was kind of bummed but since I've been there after that I've actually enjoyed myself a lot more. Had no idea their menu was extensive as it is. I had the steak quesadilla it was was amazing.

Wow. What a change from two months ago. The place is now NO SMOKING!!! The menu is truly family friendly, and the corned beef hash for under $3 was worth getting a second order.

It's a dive. But it is open. Open after a 5k run at Douglas County Fairgrounds where no beer or food were provided. Open on Christmas Day when I had an extra hour between families. Open, but... ...smoke. Yes, smoking. Smoking, somehow, is still allowed here. I don't know the rules, the law, or whatever... ...but I don't like being in the same room with smokers. Sorry. I would have given this place 4 stars for being open...except for the smoke.

The food is average, the service is slow and the atmosphere is dingy. The bartender served me a beer he knew he had mixed up. (There was two kinds of beer in one glass)

Ok, so here is the scenario... it's Christmas Day, you are bored, and you want to drive around for a little while. Then you end up in Castle Rock for a hike, do lunch and feel the need for a beer. Where do you go? Liquor stores are closed... you drive down Wilcox and what do you see? An open bar! This place was awesome! Open on Christmas day, several people in it... and one person bought a round for everyone! This was one of the best Christmas' ever!

Nice restaurant with good food and service. Only drawback is smoking. No designated "smoking" areas so place is smokey. Still the turkey salad was very good.

As a dive bar aficionado - this place is a must! It's always a good time, especially karaoke on Saturday night. It's got great people watching and you can smoke inside. They have pool tables and lotto scratchers too. The clientele runs a 30 year age span which is the sign of a great dive bar. There is always some excitement to be had at the Castle Rock Bar. Saddle up to the bar and watch the shenanigans unfold.

Dive Bar Review: This place is a kick ass little dive bar in downtown Castle Rock. I'll dip in here after work on my way back to Denver. Yup, rockin the tie and all. Good happy hour, great people looking and yes . . . . you can still smoke in here. For those dive bar aficionados out there, this is a must visit.

It's a dive bar, we used to call it "the dirty" Back in the day everyone knew your name and what you drank and when to cut you off even! It's changed spruced up a little but doesn't have the same feeling as back in the day say 6 years ago
